Māori children play ruru (also known as kōruru), in a 1907 painting by Gottfried Lindauer. Ruru, usually

played with five stones, was a game very similar to the traditional European game of knucklebones.

南 島 民 族 的 風 俗
 抾布子仔  khioh-pòo-lí-á

抾布子仔,khioh-pòo-lí-á,是台灣傳統的囝仔耍  kín-á-sńg,(童玩)。用小个布袋,內底貯米,抑是綠豆。耍法:提五粒布子仔囥佇塗跤,用一手先抾一粒擲對空中,這粒落落來 lak-lo̍h-lâi 以前,閣來抾其他的布粒仔。詳細參考下面的 video.

抾布子仔愛那耍那唸下面這首念謠:


【一放雞,二放鴨,三分開,四相疊,五搭胸,六拍手,七紡紗,八摸鼻,九搝耳,十抾起。】(搝 khiú, giú)

 

毛利人亦有仝款的囝仔耍,號作 “ruru”。毛利人用五粒石頭粒仔來代替布子仔。其他耍法佮台灣抾布子仔仝款。

Ruru – knucklebones

Ruru (kōruru, kai makamaka, tutukai and ruke) was usually played with five small, flat stones, although the number could vary. Players progressed through stages and chanted accompanying verses.
 

毛利人 5000 年前徙出台灣,所以抾布子仔這个囝仔耍的歷史可能超過 5000 年。

抾布子仔,英文號作 ”knucklebones“。西方的歷史記載,上早耍knucklebones 的是希臘人,但是希臘的古冊閣有記載,這毋是 in 發明矣,是有人教 in 矣。真有可能 “抾布子仔” 的源頭就是南島民族。
