南 島 語 系 的 同 源 語
台語的 媠 sui
"媠", sui, 是南島語，台語的用法：媠色，媠氣，媠噹噹。媠的夏威夷語講 “Uʻi” *，和台語的 “Suí” 是同源語。因為夏威夷語無用 “S" 這个音，所以 "sui" 就變成 "ui" 矣。

語言的演變，源頭攏較複雜，落尾攏較簡單。台語有 90 个音素 (韻母加聲母，或母音加子音的數字)，夏威夷語有 33 个音素 (25 个母音，8 个子音)。用音素的濟少來判斷無仝語言的先後關系，是語言學時常使用的方法。
